Jim and Marilyn Slattery, the founders of Art & Soul, raised their children in Lincoln, Nebraska. Marilyn taught art to students of all ages from her home studio. Immersed in the arts and the family business from a young age, their children inherited a rich blend of artistic and entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2011, the Slattery’s launched a creative endeavor under the name Art & Soul with the mission to provide a welcoming place to gather, create, & be inspired. Art & Soul now operates a made-from-scratch cafe, and offers cooking & art classes, as well as private events.​ All of the Slattery’s remain involved in the business.
